Sahal by Golis: Payment and Account Checks in Puntland

Sahal is Golis’s mobile-money service. Golis identifies the service, its account process and payment instructions on its official Sahal page. It is separate from Somtel’s eDahab.
If you already use Sahal, start by checking the current account and recipient instructions. A wallet name in a bookmaker review does not tell you whether that method is available to your particular account today.

Verify the Sahal account
Golis’s documentation describes registration at its centres and requires the relevant customer and identity information. Use the current official Golis process to resolve a wallet-account issue. A person offering a betting account is not automatically a Golis representative.
For a balance enquiry, Golis lists *881# as a shortcut and *888# as its menu route. Keep the PIN within the provider’s own phone prompt. These are wallet instructions, not bookmaker deposit codes; do not insert an unknown merchant or agent number into them.
Before confirming a bookmaker payment
Read both the deposit and withdrawal screens in your own account. If Sahal appears, compare the generated instruction with the wallet prompt:

Stop before approval if the recipient changes without explanation or the amount differs. Do not send a wallet PIN, password or one-time code in chat. Save the receipt after approval and verify the bookmaker balance separately.
When a payment is pending
Wallet debited, bookmaker unchanged: save the reference, time, amount and recipient. Ask the bookmaker to trace the matching deposit request. If the wallet record itself is wrong or unrecognised, use the official Golis support route as well. Avoid making the same payment again while the first is unresolved.
Withdrawal pending: record the bookmaker request ID, submission time, status and any account-verification notice. Read the processing window shown for that request. The wallet provider can investigate a wallet transaction; it cannot establish why a bookmaker has not yet sent one.

These are the author’s July 2026 reports reconstructed on 24 August. The original receipts were lost, so the outcomes are not independently auditable proof or timing guarantees. Sahal and eDahab are different services
Sahal belongs to Golis; eDahab is associated with Somtel. Do not treat one provider’s balance code, support channel or merchant instruction as interchangeable with the other. Choose a wallet you already own and can verify, then check its actual cashier route.

Is Sahal provided by Somtel?
No. Golis identifies SAHAL as its mobile-money service. The earlier Somtel attribution on this page was corrected on 10 September 2026.

How long should a withdrawal take?
The four July withdrawals were reported received on their request dates, around two hours later. For a new withdrawal, use its actual status and the processing terms shown by the operator.
Are payments free?
A provider’s listed service fee and the bookmaker’s fees or currency conversion are separate. Check the total debit and net credit for your actual transaction before confirming.
